There may have been so many changes along the way last January that this is completely impractical, but...
I'm trying to use the "Lesson 2. Writing Your First Player" video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fl6fKzon8LI
but the methods illustrated even within the first fifteen minutes ( i.e., the very basics of controlling a robot ) aren't applicable, as they're no longer a part of the API.
Is it possible that the API version's code that was used in each of these tutorial videos could be made available?
Yeah, I know that's probably completely impractical; I'm just getting impatient waiting for the new contest to be released, but my plans to get a jump start by going through the 2016 tutorials have been complicated by this mismatch, and my efforts to use the available API at https://s3.amazonaws.com/battlecode-releases-2016/releases/javadoc/index.html?help-doc.html have been hampered by methods that don't seem to work ( the way I thought they do. )
Yeah, I know I'm just doing something ( probably ) simple wrong, but that's why I was trying to work through the very first video tutorial, hoping to "have my hand held" with code that already works.
Ahhh well, this too shall pass.
P.S. Just on the off chance that someone else has experienced this: Has anyone else had the RobotController.senseHostileRobots(MapLocation locOfCurRobot, -1) always return a zero-length RobotInfo ?
( the argument -1 indicates the entire map ).
