Seems like it would be nice for plantTree() or buildRobot() to return the ID of the tree or robot that was built.
Maybe even better if you got back a TreeInfo or RobotInfo for a newly planted tree or created robot.
I thought the same thing, but I expect the rules on this are likely set in stone.

Agreed this would be a great tweak to the API.
